Incredible collection of woodcuts forming a novel, a novel in pictures. If you surf the web you can find a bit about the work of Lynd Ward. The cloth boards appear to be silk screened with a spiral and star decoration, dark blue on ivory. It has some light humidity damage as there is some rippling in the cloth which is not terribly obvious, and slight rippling to the textblock which can be felt but not readily seen. The last 25 pages on the other hand are clearly damp stained, light colored, but obvious, and not affecting any of the prints. Textblock edges are sunned and slightly darkened except for the damp stain, which is lighter. Board edges are worn and very slightly fraying and there's a small chip from the edge at the bottom spine hinge. The boards are just barely warped, again obvious only at close inspection..
